Old Havana
Old Havana (Habana Vieja) — the historic center of the city. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its colonial-style buildings, magnificent squares, and pedestrian shopping streets. The Grand Theater and most museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of the Revolution, the Capitol and the House of the General Captains, the sacred baobab and art galleries, the Cathedral and the Russian Church, Havana’s Arbat — Obispo Street, are all located here. Café El Escorial on the Old Square, offering the city’s best coffee, bars where Hemingway, Frank Sinatra, and Hollywood stars of the 1940s spent their free time with Daiquiris and Mojitos, and the city’s only brewery with three types of live beer are also situated in this part of town. The district is rich in history and culture but inhabited by modest citizens; the disarray of the streets and lack of greenery are striking. There are no nightclubs in the area.
