Cayo Guillermo Island is located 20 km west of Cayo Coco Island in the province of Ciego de Ávila. Its area is only 18 sq. km. Cayo Guillermo is connected to Cayo Coco by a causeway, along which you can see dolphins swimming in the sea and pink flamingos living here. The island is known for its sandy dunes, extensive palm and mangrove groves, as well as coral reefs.

The main beach areas of Cayo Guillermo are El Paso, Del Medio, Larga, and El Pilar. They stretch along the island for 5 km. Next to El Pilar beach rises a sand dune 16 m high. The other beaches are also surrounded by small sandy dunes. The local hotels are built as separate villas with terraces. This is one of the most peaceful resorts in Cuba. Cayo Guillermo is also considered one of the best places for deep-sea fishing.
