Santo Domingo

Journey to the Historic Heart of the Dominican Republic

Here you will discover the oldest part of the country: museums, homes of Spanish conquistadors, and monuments that marked the beginning of the history of the New World.

One of the most surprising places is Los Tres Ojos — a natural park with three visible lakes and a fourth hidden lake inside a dark cave, reached by crossing a small raft through an underground tunnel. The landscape feels like a lost world. In fact, this setting was used as a backdrop for the film Jurassic Park: The Lost World.

Another must-see landmark is Faro a Colón — a monumental mausoleum that houses the remains of Christopher Columbus. Despite its name suggesting a traditional lighthouse, its architecture is entirely different. Inside, there is a museum dedicated to the countries that participated in its construction.

The tour begins at your hotel, where comfortable transportation will pick you up. The journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

First Stop: Los Tres Ojos

A cave where the Taíno indigenous people once performed sacred rituals. The crystal-clear lakes lie about 15 meters below ground level. The fourth lake, discovered in 1916, is considered the most spectacular and is reached by crossing an underground tunnel on a raft.

Faro a Colón

Located in the eastern part of the city, it is both a mausoleum and a museum dedicated to the famous navigator.
Afterward, you will enjoy lunch with unforgettable views of the Colonial Zone.

Ciudad Colonial

The historic center of the Dominican Republic is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will walk along the first street of the New World — Calle Las Damas — visit the house of Diego Columbus, a 16th-century fortress, and the first cathedral of the American continent.

The tour allows you to immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of the conquistador era.

End of the Tour

If you wish, you may visit one of the capital’s shopping centers for approximately 1.5 hours of international brand shopping.
On the way back to the hotel, we will pass by the Presidential Palace and its security area.

Optional Experience

Instead of one of the historical stops, you may explore a different side of the city by taking a cable car ride over local neighborhoods to observe daily life from above. If time permits, you can also experience the local metro.

Santo Domingo is not just an excursion — it is a journey to the origin of the Americas.
This is where the history of the New World began.
